John Hutchison

John Hutchison is a cloud software engineer and founder of Aether Forged Studio GmbH, through which he has been advising and supporting companies on cloud, Go and continuous delivery projects since 2025. Before that, he worked as a Cloud Architecture Consultant at bespinian for clients in the public and financial sectors, using Kubernetes, Helm, Go, GitLab and GitHub CI/CD, HashiCorp Vault and Terraform – with a focus on high availability, governance and compliance.

John has been using Go in production for years: at :elblox AG, first as Senior Software Engineer and later as CTO a.i., he built a renewable energy platform with Go microservices, continuous delivery, Terraform and AWS; he then worked as Principal Software Engineer at Axpo Group. Before that, he shaped software engineering at Swiss insurer La Mobilière for many years – from Java and Smalltalk systems for offers and contracts, through a microservice architecture for the sales application, to his role as Continuous Delivery Architect, where he cut release cycles for selected services from weeks to minutes. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Bern.

John is a familiar face in the Swiss Go community: at the Bärner Go Meetup he has spoken about Go services with HTML-over-the-wire (Hotwire), code generation with //go:generate, cross-compiling CGO with Zig, and what’s new in Go 1.26. At Letsboot, he brings this experience from enterprise projects and the community straight into his trainings – so that teams write idiomatic Go instead of Java in Go syntax.
