Instructor
Dominik Blystak is a Lead Software Engineer at Westpac New Zealand in Auckland, with around twenty years of experience in software development. After studying at the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt, he began his career in Europe — including several years at IBM working on software projects in the Swiss banking industry — before moving to New Zealand.
In Auckland, Dominik has held senior engineering roles at well-known companies including Vodafone New Zealand, Air New Zealand, TVNZ, and Sky New Zealand. His technical focus is on Java and the Spring ecosystem, solution architecture, and the technical leadership of agile teams. He is a certified Red Hat OpenShift Developer and works hands-on with containers and modern cloud technologies.
At Westpac — one of the largest banks in Australia and New Zealand — Dominik works as a Lead Software Engineer in a highly regulated environment with demanding risk and compliance requirements, where he engages deeply with agentic software engineering. As an advocate of AI-native engineering, he shows how development teams can use AI agents productively and responsibly without sacrificing code quality or understanding. He regularly shares his experience as a speaker, including at the Google Cloud Summit 2026.
