We cover best practices that help identify problems and develop solutions, practicing these techniques through practical examples and exercises.
The workshop includes the following topics:
- Understanding Event Storming technique
- Short training on a real-world example
- Practical Big Picture level session
- Focus on business domain discovery
- Model key processes
- Find pivotal events
- Prepare draft of subdomains
- Practical Process level session
- Dive deep into modeled processes
- Find actors, commands, policies and read models
- Validate draft of subdomains
- Practical Design level session
- Create detailed model of the system
- Define bounded contexts and their interactions
- Find aggregates
- Refine and validate the detailed design with iterative feedback

More about Event Storming
Event Storming is a collaborative workshop method for visually modeling complex business domains. It was invented by Alberto Brandolini and combines practices from Domain-Driven Design with lightweight, accessible visualization — requiring no software support at all. Using colored sticky notes on a large modeling surface, all participants — domain experts and developers together — surface knowledge about domain processes.Further resources:
History
Event Storming was invented in 2013 by Alberto Brandolini, originally as a rapid method for modeling complex business processes in the spirit of Domain-Driven Design. The approach emerged from frustration with lengthy, overly formal requirements-gathering workshops and the desire to make domain knowledge visible quickly and collaboratively.
Over the years, Event Storming evolved from a pure DDD tool into a versatile instrument for organizational modeling, process optimization, and software design. Today it is structured across three levels — Big Picture, Process Level, and Design Level — and is one of the most widely used collaborative modeling techniques in agile software development.
